Congratulations Builders Warehouse

Congratulations to Builders Warehouse, housed in the new River Quarter development, for being awarded Preliminary EDGE certification.

This development is targeting an EDGE Certified certification to incorporate and monitor resource efficient design principles throughout the design of the building.  

The development will save on energy, water and materials.

Energy: – 37.73% reduced energy consumption. 

• Detailed attention has been given to the design of the lighting systems to reduce energy consumption. A 30% reduction in lighting loads has been achieved.
• The steel structure spanning the roof and exterior facade is fully insulated, creating a tightened building envelope to reduce heat transfer and HVAC system loads. 
• High efficiency heat pumps have been specified to service all water heating uses.

Water: – 22.73% reduced water consumption.

• Water-efficient landscape design allows for a 35% reduction in irrigation water consumption.  
• Water efficient fixtures have been specified throughout the facility to ensure a reduced water consumption during occupancy.

Materials: – 66.00% reduced embodied carbon in construction materials.

• The optimised structural design allows for reduced steel reinforcement quantities. 
• The facade is designed from a combination of insulated steel cladding and brick walls, creating a balance between material reduction and energy efficiency.
